Set of 3 artwork postcards
Size: 13 X 18 cm (5 X 7 inches)
A fascinating classic of the German silent era, Das Cabinet des Dr. Caligari (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) (1920), directed by Robert Wiene and written by Hans Janowitz and Carl Mayer, set the template for future noir, thriller and scary movies, combining romantic superstition with the supposedly rational world of psychiatric surveillance and control. Considered the quintessential work of German Expressionist cinema, it is a dark and visually striking cinematic experience that uses sharp-pointed forms, oblique and curving lines, structures and landscapes that lean and twist in unusual angles and shadows and streaks of light painted directly onto the sets.
The poster art for the film is a visual experience in itself as well, and these three postcards available in our shop are proof of that. The postcard size is perfect to create a gallery wall or display on a shelf, or as a thoughtful gift for someone dear who loves the classics (not just the movies). This size fits into ready made frames.
